India will take on Australia in the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Final today. A host nation will feature in the event’s final for the fourth time in a row, starting with India themselves in 2011.
Led by Rohit Sharma’s belligerence and Virat Kohli’s assurance, the batting unit has clicked in all their games so far. Mohammed Shami’s excellence has led their bowling effort, which has seen both the pacers and spinners thrive.
Meanwhile, a record eighth-final appearance awaits Australia in the World Cup as the five-time champions take on India for the second time in a World Cup final. Their previous meeting happened two decades back, in the 2003 World Cup. The contest was won by Ricky Ponting’s side by a margin of 125 runs.

Pitch Report
Rohit Sharma, for the second day in a row, had a long and hard look at the strip and felt that there was a slight difference from the track on which they played against Pakistan on October 14.
“That wicket (Pakistan game), there was no grass on it. This wicket has some grass on it. That wicket looked a lot more drier than this one – I don’t know, maybe you know, I still haven’t looked today how the wicket is but from my understanding obviously it’s slightly going to be on the slower side.,” the skipper said.

India vs Australia Live: Rohit Sharma lauds coach Rahul Dravid
India vs Australia Live: Speaking at the pre-match press conference, skipper Rohit Sharma said, “The way he stood by the players in difficult times during the T20 World Cup, we had a good run until that semifinal and we lost and how he reacted to certain situations and informing the players about this is what we are looking at and all of that says a lot about him,”
Rohit added, “Obviously, what he has done for Indian cricket is massive. He also feels that he wants to be part of this big occasion. It’s for us to do it for him,”
“His role has been absolutely massive in terms of getting that clarity, which I keep talking about. There’s one thing for me to think about and the other thing for coach to not agree to certain things… Clearly, looking at how Rahul bhai himself has played his cricket and how I am playing these days, obviously it’s quite contrasting…For him to agree and give me that freedom and liberty to go and play the way we want to play, that says a lot about him,” the Indian skipper added

“…We have called nearly 2000 police from outside… Overall, we are using more than 6,000 of the police force… Paramilitary (force) is different… Arrangements of water and all other things have been done in the stadium,” Singh added.

India vs Australia Live: IND Skipper’s former coach Dinesh while speaking to ANI said, “Since the World Cup started, I had said that we will win the World Cup..because WC is taking place in India and all our players are in good form. Definitely, we will be winning the World Cup finals. Rohit Sharma plays for the team and plays a selfless game. He thinks of utilising the first ten overs well. He is not bothered about his milestones. His game makes things easier for batters who come after him,”
“They do not have to take pressure since everyone supports them so much. They are not under pressure really I feel since they are playing so well. They will have to keep playing the way they have been doing since last 10 matches,” Dinesh added.
India vs Australia Live: Sonia Gandhi extends wishes to Rohit and Co.
India vs Australia Live: Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi extended wishes to the Indian team ahead of the final of cricket world cup on Sunday. She said, “My dear Team India players, First of all, many congratulations to you for your game and teamwork during this World Cup. You have continuously given moments of happiness and pride to the entire country. There are big messages in your journey to the final match of this World Cup. That message is of unity, hard work and determination,”
“I want to congratulate the players of Team India on their excellent performance. Today I am remembering the last two occasions when India won the World Cup trophy. First in 1983 and then in 2011. On both those occasions the country was filled with respect and joy. Now that opportunity has come again. Cricket has always worked to unite our country. Now, when you are ready for the final match, the entire nation is standing with you and wishing for your success. My heartiest wishes to you. You have all the qualities to become a world champion. I have full confidence that Team India will win. Jai Hind,”
India vs Australia Live: Rohit should take a measured approach against Aussie pacers, says former India star
India vs Australia Live: Speaking to ANI, former Indian cricketer Atul Wassan said, “The preparation has been nice since we have won all our matches. It seems that the match will be easy but it would not be the case as I know the Australian team well and have played with them. They are energetic and dangerous. They have that never-die spirit. They have six to eight players from the 2015 and 2019 World Cups so they have experience of big matches. They are not as pressurised as our team since they take sport as a sport. But here, cricket is a matter of life and death. Our players know it and soak the pressure. That is why Virat Kohli and Rohit are legends. Every team had a bad day in this WC. Hope this never comes for us,”
